In Module 1, I learned the general concepts associated with HTML & CSS. First, I utilized Code Academy tutorials in order to familiarize myself with the syntax for HTML & CSS and how they can be used in web development. Afterwards, I utilized the CSS Select tutorial in order to go more in depth into CSS & HTML. I also was required to read a chapter from the Spider and the Starfish which discussed the benefits of having a decentralized organization and how it assisted them in defeating the Spaniards. Last but not least, I watched a video about the "Fathers of the Internet", which are Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn.
The assignment that I found to be the most beneficial in regards to Module 1 were the Codeacademy tutorials that we were required to do. The tutorials were so helpful due to the fact that they were hands on and took you step by step through each important concept associated with HTML & CSS. Also, the fact that I was able to do them at my own pace really relieved me of any pressure to finish them quickly. Whenever I had any difficulty with a concept, I made sure to spend as long as I needed in order to ensure that I grasped the fundamentals and key aspects associated with that concept. Overall, the Codeacademy tutorials played the most significant role in teaching me the basics of HTML & CSS.
For my learning artifact, I am going to have to go with the CSS Select Tutorial. While it was pretty simple and did not go into explicit detail, it played a vital role in allowing me to design my webpage in this class. It taught me how to edit HTML code in a webpage and how to really steer it into any direction of my choosing. You can find the link below to the assignment!
